Wine is experienced through different senses - sight, smell and taste – but over 90% of our sensory perception is derived from aroma. Inspired by Dr. Ann Noble's Wine Aroma Wheel, this innovative presentation was pioneered by Trinchero Family Estates where participants become familiar with common aromas while promoting a thought-provoking, fun competition.Participants learn how to define wine aromas, understand off-aromas (faults), and develop an aroma "vocabulary" to identify and discuss wines and their characteristic aromas (e.g., what does a great Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?). Hostess: Kimberly Manda, Regional Sales Manager – Trinchero Family Estates

Noon-12:50p Whiskeys around the World – Grand Summit Hotel

This seminar will focus on the 4 main styles of whiskey in the world (Scotch, Irish, Canadian, Bourbon) plus a bonus fifth style: rye whiskey.  You will taste whiskies that exemplify each style and learn about the characteristics that make these great spirits worth appreciating. Host: David Perkins of High West Distillery

Steven Rosenberg (proprietor of Liberty Heights Fresh and specialty food guru) teams up with Vine Lore's Gus Magann (Certified Wine Educator and classically trained chef) in exploring the timeless concept of wine with food. Hopefully never forgetting our "just eat and drink what you like, but..." philosophy, we will run the gamut of approaches including detailed accounting of taste components, classic combinations, and on to the much more non-traditional fun of breaking all the rules. You will definitely come out of this with new favorites, both planned and by accident. Hosts: Gus Magann, CWE and President of Vine Lore and Steven Rosenberg, Proprietor of Liberty Heights Fresh
